Bus Tour
| Location | The Bus Tour hill is located at 470 Ross Smith Avenue right alongside the Airport Bus Tour office. There is a good sized car park, and it is only a short walk to the top of the hill where you will be just a little east of the Runway 16L / 34R centreline. Airside Tarmac Tours operates on the weekends and although cameras are no longer allowed, the tour is well worthwhile, covering pretty much the whole perimeter of the airport, with plenty of close up viewing of aircraft. They also stop between taxiway Bravo and Runway 16R / 34L for a short while for some takeoff and landing action. |
| View | The actual runway is obscured by trees so aircraft can pop up fairly quickly above the treeline. Smaller aircraft get up fairly quick and can turn overhead sometimes, while the Boeing 737s and Airbus A320s tend to fly by before turning right. You can also see the T1 International Terminal and the International stand off parking bays to keep in touch with the other action at the airport. |
| Equipment | All you will need here is a camera. |
| Photography | Excellent photography in the early morning, with mainly smaller types passing overhead on a reasonable regular basis.. |
